"My 5 year old can do that" how many times have you heard that when someone views a Picasso or a Pollock or a Rothko or a Basquiat or a (insert over a hundred contemporary artists here) and yet their work is original and contemporary. Stik's famous stick man is the archetypal children like artwork. When we were children, we all drew a house with some stick people standing outside. Yet Stik's work somehow has more humility and emotion that the best photorealism art you can find. With just a few lines and circles, he can muster up a moving piece about civil rights or the human state.
